STEWARDSHIP UPDATE

Our Stewardship campaign for 2019 is well underway with a total of $164,260 being received as of Monday, November 19. If you have already submitted your pledge card, many thanks. If not, please either mail it to us, deliver it to the church office, or drop it in the wooden box (located in the narthex of the church sanctuary) by this Sunday, November 18. We thank you for your support!

HANGING OF THE GREENS SERVICE
DECEMBER 2 @ 9:30 AM

We will decorate the sanctuary during our morning worship on the first Sunday in Advent, December 2, with the Hanging of the Greens Service. This will be a special Sunday where the Adult Choir and the Brook Singers lead the congregation in song as we prepare for the birth of Jesus.  More info to follow, but mark this date on your calendar as a Sunday you don’t want to miss!

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT AND BRUNCH: SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16 AT 9:30AM

Join us during our Sunday service on December 16 as we get into the Christmas spirit and celebrate as a community. The service will be filled with holiday carols, and we will enter into the story of Christ’s birth as the children present their Christmas pageant. A holiday brunch will follow.

BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 21 AT 6:30PM

Blue? Yes, blue as in the blues. As in "I am feeling blue." Not everyone is up and cheery for the Christmas holidays. Dealing with the death of a loved one, facing life after divorce or separation, coping with the loss of a job, living with cancer or some other disease that puts a question mark over the future, and a number of other human situations make parties and joviality painful for many people in our congregations and communities. At Brookside this year, we will be holding a more contemplative service for those who are blue at Christmas. This will be a sacred space for anyone who would appreciate a more reflective time to accept where we really are and to offer ourselves to be present in prayer for those who need healing and hope.

BROOK SINGERS’ SCHEDULE

The Brook Singers Choir (for K-12th graders) will rehearse on Sunday mornings after Children’s Church until 11:15 am on the following Sundays ONLY:
December 2 & 9

The Brook Singers will participate in worship on:
December 2, December 16 (Call time for the choir is 8:45. Please be on time!) . If you have any questions, please call Amy Southerland at 862-686-2573.

SEARCH COMMITTEE UPDATE

The Settled Search Committee continues to review candidate profiles, having received 39 to date, four more since our last update at the end of October.  At that time, we also reported that we were having preliminary conversations with two candidates.  However since October, one candidate has withdrawn due to a personal reason and the Search Committee has decided not to move forward with the other candidate.

While we remain poised to review candidates as soon as they are received, we do anticipate receiving fewer Profiles over the next few weeks due to holidays.

As always, please let any of the Search Committee members know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers on this journey.  A blessed Thanksgiving to you and your family.
