BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 21 AT 6:30PM
Blue? Yes, blue as in the blues. As in "I am feeling blue." Not everyone is up and cheery for the Christmas holidays. Dealing with the death of a loved one, facing life after divorce or separation, coping with the loss of a job, living with cancer or some other disease that puts a question mark over the future, and a number of other human situations make parties and joviality painful for many people in our congregations and communities. At Brookside this year, we will be holding a more contemplative service for those who are blue at Christmas. This will be a sacred space for anyone who would appreciate a more reflective time to accept where we really are and to offer ourselves to be present in prayer for those who need healing and hope.
This year Brookside Church will be hosting two Christmas Eve Services. The first will be a family Christmas service on December 24 @ 4pm. The second will be our traditional Candlelight Service at 8pm. We hope to see you there!
SAVE THE DATE:

Congregational Renewal Service
What: Visioning and Renewal
Date: Sunday, January 13, 2019
9:30am — Christian Education Visioning Session w/ Children’s Church (The Anderson Educational Wing)
10:30am — Congregational Communion and Renewal Service (Scialla Hall)
As we look forward to 2019, we want to start the year off right! It is a common thing to make new year’s resolutions and. . . well, you know how that goes. That’s why, this year, we are doing things differently.
During our service schedule for Sunday, January 13 we will set aside time for reflection and renewal.
We will begin the day at 9:30am with a special gathering for the parents and children of our Christian Education program. They will be invited to join us in the Anderson Wing for a time of reflection and planning. As the children gather for Children’s Church, the parents will be invited for a meaningful time of fun, as we explore what resources we have and prepare for the great things we have to look forward to in the coming months.
Everyone is then invited to join us for a special communion service in Scialla Hall, beginning at 10:30am. During this service, we will sing sacred songs, share our sacred meal, and explore together ways to be more faithful in our call to become a Beloved Community together.
THANK YOU . . .
A big thank you to Matt and Gwen Rosenblatt for helping make last Sunday so special by sharing their musical talents with us!
Our Stewardship campaign for 2019 is well underway with a total of $194,430 being received as of Monday, December 17. If you have already submitted your pledge card, many thanks. Those of you who have returned your pledge cards should receive a thank you letter in the mail within the next few days. If you have not yet submitted a pledge card, please either mail it to us, deliver it to the church office, or drop it in the wooden box (located in the narthex of the church sanctuary). We thank you for your support!
