MISSIONS UPDATE

Brookside Community Church has a commitment to sharing abundance through a rich set of missions programs.  This is a description of the current programs we are sustaining and hope to expand.  Anyone interested in joining the missions group is more than welcome by contacting Chris Terhune at 973-476-1602.

Soup Kitchen

The Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center is celebrating 34 years of caring for the working poor, elderly, disabled, and homeless.  Breakfast and lunch is served to as many as 300 men, women, and children 365 days a year. The Soup Kitchen also assists guests with employment  counseling, housing, and health care services.  In 2017, over 70,000 breakfast and lunch meals were served,  over 475,000 pounds of food were distributed and over 3,000 referrals for additional services to adults and children in need were provided.

“Share the Bounty”

Share the Bounty is the single largest fundraiser for the Community Soup Kitchen (which receives no government funding). Your support continues to feed and empower the increasing number of guests in need of a meal and help.

Edna Mahan Giving Tree

Each year, Brookside Community Church provides children’s gift donations for the annual Mother/Child visitation program for the holidays at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women. Tags with children’s gender and age are displayed on the wooden Christmas tree at holiday time.

Interfaith Food Pantry

Contributions are made to the Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry with a food drive and monetary donations to not only distribute food but expand access to food for working families and expand “healthy choices”  to food through free “farmers' market" produce.

Dover Child Care Center

Each year, BCC provides support to contribute to the Dover Child Care Center. This helps with their goal of providing quality and affordable full-time education in preparation for school.

RAMP (Refugee Assistance Morris Partners)

RAMP is an organization that provides assistance to vetted Middle Eastern and the refugee families in their transition to productive lives of dignity, safety and hope in the Morris County area.

Lancaster Seminary

Brookside Community Church has a long tradition of partnering with Lancaster Seminary, one of six seminaries across the nation affiliated with the United Church of Christ. Lancaster Seminary is an inclusive community of learning and spiritual formation dedicated to the integration of intellectual, spiritual, social, and vocational learning.  Their commitment is to bringing faith and intellect to bear in educating leaders for faith communities.
