@ Brookside . . . Week of March 10

MINISTERIAL SUPPLY MINISTER

This Sunday, March 17 we will welcome Kathy Youzwak as our ministerial supply minister following Rev. Michael Howard’s departure. Kathy preached here last March as a pulpit supply minister and is currently a Member in Discernment in the UCC, approved for ordination pending a call. In addition to conducting services here, she will have office hours (Tuesdays from 10 am-noon) and be available as needed for pastoral care.

Kathy attended the University of Notre Dame where she received her Bachelor of Arts (Theology) degree as well as her Master of Divinity degree. She has served as a Pastoral Intern at Packanack Community Church in Wayne, and as the Pastoral Associate for Youth and Young Adult Ministry at The Community Church of Mountain Lakes. Before coming to the UCC and discerning a call to ordination, Kathy served in a variety of Roman Catholic ministries.

She is originally from northern Wisconsin and has called New Jersey her home for the past eleven years. She and her husband Jason live in Boonton and are looking forward to being at Brookside Community Church for the next few months.

SETTLED SEARCH COMMITTEE REPORT

March 9, 2019

Since the beginning of the year, we have received an additional 7 Profiles, bringing the total that the Committee has reviewed since the beginning of the Search process to 49.  Subsequent to the Position Summary update in January, we have received 3 with whom we have shared our Profile and had conversations.  Of these three, we have one candidate who we have had 2 rounds of interviews and are in the process of conducting reference checks.  We have also scheduled a “face-to-face” meeting with the candidate at which time we have requested a reading and message be given.  To-date, this is only the second candidate who has made it this far in our process.  Of the two other candidates, one is very early in the process and the other one has chosen to withdraw.  In addition to these candidates, we have one other one who we are waiting for additional information so the Committee can continue our review.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers as we continue our work.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact me or any member of the Committee.

Thank you.
