MINISTERIAL SUPPLY MINISTER
On Sunday, March 17 we will welcome Kathy Youzwak as our ministerial supply minister following Rev. Michael Howard’s departure. Kathy preached here last March as a pulpit supply minister and is currently a Member in Discernment in the UCC, approved for ordination pending a call. In addition to conducting services here, she will be available as needed for pastoral care.
Kathy attended the University of Notre Dame where she received her Bachelor of Arts (Theology) degree as well as her Master of Divinity degree. She has served as a Pastoral Intern at Packanack Community Church in Wayne, and as the Pastoral Associate for Youth and Young Adult Ministry at The Community Church of Mountain Lakes. Before coming to the UCC and discerning a call to ordination, Kathy served in a variety of Roman Catholic ministries.
She is originally from northern Wisconsin and has called New Jersey her home for the past eleven years. She and her husband Jason live in Boonton and are looking forward to being at Brookside Community Church for the next few months.
INTEGRATED SPIRITUALITY GATHERINGS
Wednesdays at 6:30pm
Come and join us on Wednesday evenings as we explore spiritual practices that can help center us and enrich our Christian faith. As people who strive for justice and seek to live a faith that is active, these spiritual practices can help us be more balanced in the health and well-being of our body, mind, and spirit.
How do we remain present to the Sacred that we inhabit? Join us on Wednesday, March 13, for a Gong Bath with Susan Novick. The gong bath is a one hour immersion in sacred and healing sound. The gongmaster activates the full sonic potential of the gong and bathes the listener with sustained waves of primordial sound.
Gong sound can be used to rebalance and tone the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies. It is an excellent therapy for stress related issues, depression, fatigue, anger and hostility, feelings of fear, separation and loneliness, along with many other conditions related to the lack of balance and harmony in the body.
During a gong bath, all a listeners needs to do is relax and let the sound bathe the body and carry the mind.
Typically, listeners experience a sense of connectedness and peace as the sacred sound of the gong clears blockages and restores the free flow of vital energy throughout the body. With its ability to induce a meditative state, the gong offers listeners access to parts of the mind that are usually closed, resulting in a sense of expanded awareness and higher consciousness.
Please bring a yoga mat to lay on, a small blanket or two for under your head or to cover yourself with. Be sure to wear warm layers of clothing, the body can relax more deeply when it is warm. You may also wish to bring eye pillows or another small garment like a scarf to cover your eyes for a deeper experience.
