AN UPDATE ON THE MANSE KITCHEN PROJECT

The manse kitchen renovation is coming closer to becoming a reality, thanks to the quick and generous response of several of you. Our fundraising goal is $30K, and to date we’ve raised about $13,000, and while we’re grateful for what we’ve collected, we have to make more progress before we can order the cabinets and get the project underway.

In case you think the project isn’t needed, I think Michael’s response to my email request for donations is helpful:

I just wanted to ask you to extend my deepest gratitude to the Trustees for including the manse kitchen as part of their agenda for this year. I know that you have a number of challenges and church-wide projects that need to be addressed. Despite its size, the manse kitchen was not a very pleasant space for us. I know that the quality of life for whoever comes to reside at 5 Ward Drive—whether they know it or not—will drastically improve because of it. I believe that you—the Trustees—deserve to hear Zion and me, who know how very important this project is, say thank you. So here it is—THANK YOU!

So as you can see, it’s time to update that space and make it pleasant to be in and clean and functional before a new resident moves in. In fact, it would be wonderful to have the project finished before a prospective pastor sees it.

Contact me, Kaki Pierson (201) 230-5427 or Sue Browse (973) 229-2126 if you’d like to take a look at the state of the kitchen now, and help us make the manse as appealing and comfortable as possible with your donation. Send a check to the church office or drop it in the plate with “Manse Kitchen” written on the memo line.

Thanks for your cooperation. We’re all a part of the process of calling a new pastor, and this is an essential part of that process.

GREETER CERTIFICATION
SUNDAY, MAY 19 DURING COFFEE HOUR

Greeting newcomers and visitors to the church is one of the most important roles you can play in the life of the church. So is certification really necessary?  Absolutely not - but it does sound like fun! We'll take about 15 minutes during Coffee Hour on Sunday, May 19 to share real-life stories of greeting, and being greeted; best practices for "The Art of the Greeting," and more. There is no exam, but there will be certificates issued to those who take the Oath to Greet! The Community Outreach Committee is looking for participation from those with stories of the first time you visited Brookside, and stories and insights from experienced greeters.  All you need to do is be there!
